Visual Basic Editor Configuration

I've searched and searched and have not been able to find much on how to configure the Visual Basic editor. Specifically, I'd like to return the VBE to the default set up that you get directly after installing Microsoft Office.

The problem I'm having is that the docking of windows is all fouled up. The way things now sit, the Properties View, when docked, expands to fill the entire window horizontally, rather than being limited to, what, about 1/5 th or 1/4 th of the window. The Explorer window does the same bloody thing. I've messed around with turning "docking" on and off and to be honest, the docking is no so screwed up, I have windows popping up all over the place.

Which Excel functions can ignore hidden rows?
The SUBTOTAL and AGGREGATE functions ignore hidden rows. AGGREGATE can also exclude error cells and more.
Doesn't accomplish what I want to do. In point of fact, the behavior of the editor is different from what one would expect. By that I mean one can't place things back they way they were originally.

I attribute that to the fact that the editor refuses to allow you to tile the Properties window below the Explorer window on the left side, with the code pane on the right, titled above the watch window. According the the documentation, they should "snap" into position and then simply don't.

All that aside, I find it extremely difficult to believe that there is no way to restore the defaults to the editor. There has to be a configuration file someplace because I know that simply uninstalling Microsoft Office doesn't work, if you use the same identity. Something is saved in the Application Data folder, but I can't figure out which file it is. I'd like to know.

I've had the same problem myself before.

I don't actually think there is a file that saves the configuration.

Try dragging windows as Tom has suggested.

But you could also try right clicking on the titles of the windows and see/change if they're Dockable.

You might also try going to Tools>Options... and check the Docking tab.

I think that you may not be docking correctly or there is something unusually wrong. Admittedly, the docking is not really all that great in the VBA IDE. You have to drag all the way until the outline changes. Note the change in the outline. Also, to dock to another window, you need to drag the outline to the titlebar of the window you wish to dock to. Note this in the video. You should view it and not assume that you are docking the way you should.

As for the config. file. Window positions are likely saved in the registry. I'll take a peek and see if I can find them.

You will need "Adobe Flash Player" to view the movie at link below. You probably already have it installed.
