Hey this is probably a simple soultion but I couldnt find anything when searching the forum. I have two workbooks (2011 and 2009). 2011 has columns of Owner, Company, and Amount (389 rows). 2009 has only Company, Amount(595 rows). I need to match the company columns of 2011 to 2009. I'm assuming I'd use Vlookup but I'm a newbie and bit confused that its across separate workbooks.

Any insight would be great! thanks!

Excel Facts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().
2011
Headings of columns:
A=Owner
B=Company
C=AMount

2009
Headings of columns:
A=Company
B=Amount

To much 2011 company to 2009 Company and get the Amount try in B1 of 2009:
=VLOOKUP(A2,[2011.xlsx]Sheet1!$B$2:$C$700,2,0)

Sorry, maybe I shouldve been more clear.
2011 Headings:
A-Owner
B-Company
C-Amount

2009 Headings:
B-Company
C-Amount

Need 2009 A to be owners that match with 2011 B.
