Vlookup does not auto update - help

Hi,

I have 2 different workbooks and get values through Vlookup.

but when I change the value in a certain cell it does not get updated in the second workbook.

I have to press F2 on the cell then browse the file, and then it updates.

Any ideas or suggestions.

and Yes the calculations are set to automatic not manual,

I searched many threads but none got the solution.

Is there a macro in the worksheet that could be causing this?

No macros enabled in both the sheets

Is the other workbook OPEN?

I think you have two different instance of excel. Close the file and open using File > open option.

Yes vds1 one file is in compatibility mode

does that effect

I changed the file from 97-2003 to current but yet it is not working
