I'm trying to tackle a formula and I have two issues. First I will describe what I want it to achieve. In an ideal world, I want to use vlookup to connect part numbers between two workbooks. The problem is, one of the workbooks contains data that is not clean. Instead of a simple part number such as 12345-1, the cell will also contain useless company words, such as Boeing P/N 12345-1. And the information is not consistent enough to use any sort of pattern.
I'm familiar with the formula if(isnumber(search to be able to find a part number within a cell, but that does not work when I am trying to compare many part numbers to be possibly contained in one specific cell. I thought that maybe I could use if(isnumber(search(vlookup( so that I could search many part numbers at once, but it did not work.
Another problem I have is the pure amount of data I am working with. One workbook has 1 million part numbers, and the other has roughly 800,000. So the simpler the formula the better, to ensure my computer doesn't crash when trying to run it.
Let me know if I can answer any questions.
Thanks,
Kyle
