Hi there, I have a workbook that has many vlookup formulas to another workbook. I use this as an estimating spreadsheet... so the prices are constantly changing. My problem is, lets say I am working on a current estimate with current pricing... if i open an estimate that i did last year then all the pricing on my current estimate changes to those old prices... any way to stop this from happening?

Excel Facts

Is there a shortcut key for strikethrough?
Ctrl+S is used for Save. Ctrl+5 is used for Strikethrough. Why Ctrl+5? When you use hashmarks to count |||| is 4, strike through to mean 5.
not without a VBA solution to change a vlookup from formula to a value.

But a thought - if the estimate from a year ago has vlookups to another sheet, can you open the old one and answer "N" to update links when you open.

If you open a new excel application first, then open your old pricing, it will not automatically update your new file!
