VLOOKUP - Is it possible to do nothing to the cell if no match is found

Hi all, I'm new here so please excuse any lack of knowledge!

I'm using VLOOKUP to overwrite a description attached to a set of barcodes. What I want to know is, is there a way to to not change the content of the cell if no match is found?

This is because I am pulling barcodes and data from a separate source and some items are just not on the donor system or have no description so I would rather it was just left as it was rather than return NA. I know I can put a comment or 0 instead but I can't find a way to just leave the cell alone!

Any ideas?

Many thanks in advance..

Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.
FOH Engineer,

Welcome to the MrExcel forum.

1. What version of Excel, and, Windows are you using?

2. Are you using a PC or a Mac?

Can we see at least one of the VLOOKUP formulae?

Thanks for your reply,

I'm on a Mac running office 2011.

Here's the current VLOOKUP =VLOOKUP(RC[-1],'Barcodes fro Flex'!R[2785]C[-1]:R[20328]C,2,FALSE)

It works perfectly for pulling in the right data into the right place , it's just that the cell that I'm writing the data into already has data in it but some of it is incorrect so I am refreshing that data from another source. The only issue is the second source doesn't have every single one of the references so I'd rather just leave those ones alone as opposed to overwriting them with #N/A or 0 etc.

FOH Engineer,

In the future when asking for help, you should add to your thread title on a Mac office 2011.

This will stop someone like myself, from replying to your request.

I have no experience with a Mac.

Click on the Reply to Thread button, and just put the word BUMP in the thread. Then, click on the Post Quick Reply button, and someone else will assist you.
