Vlookup or something else?

working on a large spreadsheet and having problems with vlookup.
I am attempting to look up cell A1 in D1 and if exists (no matter where located in that cell) returns E1. Have tried vlookup with both the TRUE and FALSE statements. But no luck.

In your sample you don't need to use a lookup.

Try this...

=IF(COUNT(SEARCH(A1,D1)),E1,"")

Thanks all, it worked to an extent. I guess should have been more specific about my needs. This is a mulit row speadsheet so I need to be able to search through each cell in D and return the related data in cell E
