Can anyone help please, I am stuck trying to set up a vlookup over multiple worksheets(in the same workbook)

I would like help with the formula please.

The problem is as follows, every week we download some data from our IT system thats gets allocated to 4 people.
This now has to be on seperate worksheets instead of consolidated data, when I update the data, the next 'download' has to look at the prior to copy over certain information so we can see who's working on what action.

here goes..

Sheet 1 (main data)

Please assume the main worksheet(1) column 'D' where I need the vlookup results to show.
I need a vlookup that looks at Column 'A' on sheet1, then looks in worksheetssheets 2,3,4,5 in column 'D' and returns the result of whats in that column.

If you'd prefer to see a copy of the spreadsheet I can email it.....please requst via chally3 at gmail.com

I got this reply in a newsgroup

=VLOOKUP(A1,INDIRECT("'"&INDEX(MySheets,MATCH(TRUE,COUNTIF(INDIRECT("'"&MySheets&"'!A1:A50"),A1)>0,0))&"'!A:B"),2,0)

Where a list of sheet names is named "MySheets" and it will allow a de facto
VLOOKUP over multiple sheets.
The latter formula needs to be entered with ctrl + shift & enter.

An example can be downloaded here
