Hello all! I'm lost, and not that good at VB.:)
I have a tab (CARS) that looks something like

Car Class
1 1
8 2
9 1
6 3
2 1

Lets assume we're using A1 and B1 for this info.

On my new tab (WINNERS) I need to list the car numbers based on class.
So the first three cars in class 1 will look something like this.
I need to look down to B300 for any class #1 entrys.

Car Class
1 1
9 1
2 1

Then I'll move to class 2 etc....
Maybe I'm trying to make too much of this, or the vlookup isn't the way to go?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Don

Hi Don and Welcome to the Board.
Have you considered using Data /Autofilter and then copying the visible cells.
This can be done manually or using the macro recorder

Thanks Michael.
The problem is I only need the first 5 of each class to populate the new tab.
So, I have the winner list based on votes. Now I have to grab the top vote getters based on class.
Sound right?

Hello,

It sounds right to me. Copy the whole jalopy to a new worksheet, and Autofilter on Column B. Then skim the first five rows, which you're going to do anyways? :)

Looks closer! So I filter and get all the selected B data.
I need to get 5 class 1, then 5 of class 2 etc.....
My sheet should have 5 rows per class. I'll fill if I can, then go down to row 6 and fill with class 2 if I can.

Hello, let's straighten out the terminology here - when you say Sheet, you mean a single Workbook with a Single Worksheet, that has the top-5 from class 1, and in the next rows, the top-5 from class 2, and so forth?

Yes, on another tab, I sorted all the cars by highest vote getter.
Now, I need to sort again. First by class, then by highest vote getter.
So, our bottom line is a sheet that has 1st 2nd to 5th place by class.
I'm sure I'm making this harder then it has to be, and not describing to well to boot.

Single workbook, but multiple sheets (tabs).
One tab has winners by votes. Second has the class winners.
Sorry

If you filter and then Subtotal at each change in class, you can then extract each set of 5 for each class from the one filter table

Thanks for the help guys, but I'm still very lost.
I am trying to make this somewhat transparent to the end user. So they won't be doing and sorts.
Guess I'm being a pain here, sorry, I just don't get it.
