Vlookup - Return All matches

I've tried searching the boards for Vlookup questions, but I'm not smart enough to figure out to modify previous postings to my current need - so appreciate your patience....

If I want to return ALL values found for a Vlookup (instead of first one found), how do I do that?

which is confirmed with control+shift+enter (not just with enter) then copied across and down.

A couple of things:

Can you explain this please? I can't get my head round how this works, I'm not familiar with the Row, Index and Small functions. The countif bit makes perfect sense however.

A couple of things:

The ROWS(...) copied down yields a series: 1, 2,...A$10.

The IF bit yields for every cell that is equal to A$9 the corresponding ROW number of the a C-cell.

These ROW numbers are adjusted with ROW($C$2)+1 such that the IF formula produces a series which starts at 1...

SMALL picks out one at a time from the adjusted series of row numbers, according to the result the ROWS bit delivers. And it feds that row number to INDEX, which delivers the corresponding item from the C-range.

You can also invoke the Formula Auditing tool in order to see how these intermediate evaluations are done.

For the control+shift+enter bit, search thru Excel's Help with: "array formula".

Thanks, been having a play with this formula this week, as I've wanted to go column ways rather than row ways. So my lookup table would mirror your example, but my results bit would have abc vertical rather than horizontal. Finally after lots of trying, I got to this:

=IF(COLUMNS($G5:G5)<=$E5,INDEX('Sheet 2'!$H$2:$H$700,SMALL(IF('Sheet 2'!$B$2:$B$700=$D5,ROW('Sheet 2'!$H$2:$H$700)-ROW('Sheet 2'!$H$2)+1),COLUMNS($G5:G5))),"")

So I left some rows in there which seems to be correct, and using COLUMNS instead of ROWS. Seems to work ok, I don't think I've missed anything?

So I end up with something like:

Value - (Count of instances from pivot)- lookup1 - lookup2 - lookup3 etc

Then in another column I use:

=IF(E5=5,G5&" "&"&"&" "&H5&" "&"&"&" "&I5&" "&"&"&" "&J5&" "&"&"&" "&K5,IF(E5=4,G5&" "&"&"&" "&H5&" "&"&"&" "&I5&" "&"&"&" "&J5,IF(E5=3,G5&" "&"&"&" "&H5&" "&"&"&" "&I5,IF(E5=2,G5&" "&"&"&" "&H5,G5))))

So basically saying if there's 3 values attributed to my name, it says "X & Y & Z", which works. Do I need to finish off my IF statement with an OR ELSE at the end for each bit? As at the moment I'm saying IF x = this, then, or if it equals etc, or else without an or else for every instance of IF.

how would i use this to do the following:

if R2 is greater than 0 then look at the customer no in cell a2 and if this is in the sheet called custdata (cell c2) then pull across each item the customer had ordered in cell d2 on the custdata sheet
