vlookup type query

I am wanting do a vlookup type search to find unique town names scattered across multiple rows and columns (C255:N301) and return the corresponding page reference in column B, or row number would suffice. I could move column b to the right of the data if it would help, but i can't find a formula that searches across mulitple rows/columns.
