VLOOKUP unusual results

Hi - I am using a bog standard formula for look ups i.e
=VLOOKUP(C64,ORIGINAL!$C$2:$E$17270,3,4)

I've noticed that if there is any refernces which are not on the source it reads all sorts of other lines? I think I have something missing in the formula? any ideas?
