What are you trying to lookup?

x has no value.

How does it not work?

Are you getting an error or is the wrong value returned?

What are these 2 lines of code meant to do?
Code:
Cells.Find(what:="associate name").Offset(1, 0).Select
 Cells(ActiveCell.Row, Columns.Count).End(xlToLeft).Offset(0, 1).Select
