Hi
Am trying to to vlookup where the data is on another sheet but i want to select the range to lookup from ie
the lookup is on sheet "data" =VLOOKUP(Z5,ALL!A:A,1,FALSE) this looks up column A on sheet "ALL"

Is it possible to choose the column from sheet "data" ? -
In cell A1 on "data" i put A:A and the lookup would refer to this ie =VLOOKUP(Z5,ALL!%A%1,1,FALSE)
so when i changed cell a1 the lookup would change ?

Thought it would be simple but i cannot get it to work !!!!!!!!!!!!( have tried indirect but I do not fully understand how it works)

Excel Facts

Test for Multiple Conditions in IF?
Use AND(test, test, test, test) or OR(test, test, test, ...) as the logical_test argument of IF.
Perhaps

=VLOOKUP(Z5,INDIRECT("'ALL'!"&A1),1,0)

Given the limited information we can only suggest what you have asked for but I suspect that an INDEX MATCH formula might be closer to what you need.
