Completely new to Excel.
I have 2 columns of data and I want to search the second column to see if any data in the first column is there.
I have been told about VLOOKUP but do not know how it works.
If someone could let me have a formula that would be great.

Then again.....
I have just looked at the data it has returned and the left hand side column data does not match the right hand side data.
Non of the data it has come back with "Yes" is in the right hand side column at all ????? :(

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
What 2 columns in your Excel spreadsheet are you trying to compare?

If you can use the HTML maker to post a sample of your spreadsheet ... that would help people to sort out a solution for you.

I have now managed to do my first VLOOKUP run.
Many thanks to you all for your help.
What an excellent site
You have not told us what formula you used to "do your first VLOOKUP run"
Then again.....

Not really sure what this means?

Any chance of relating it back to a small, simple set of data like in my earlier post?
