# vlookup

Hi,
I have a loan list on one sheet, and I need to get the total of the outstanding balance from another sheet which contains all loans from inception.
Currently, I am doing a vlookup, to bring back the balance ont he first sheet, then doing a total at the end of the list, and then copy, paste special value into a third sheet.

Is there a formula that I can insert in the third sheet to get the same result?

Thanks,
Aurora

Hi Aurora,
You could use SUM(range to total)

How would I write that formula?

There are two ways to do it.

The first is to click the autosum button on the toolbar if you have it displayed. It looks like a Latin capital E. Click it and select the cells you want to sum.

The second is to type in to the cell =SUM(
Then select the cells you want to sum, type the other parenthesis ), and press enter.

Let me know if you need more help. Post the cells you want to sum and I'll show you how to type the entire formula manually.

Thanks but I wasn't looking for a sum formula. I figured it out though, it's DSUM

Good, and I learned something too. I've never heard of that formula before.
