Hi Friends,

Here is my question..

Let's assume that, we are entering the number from 1 to 9 in a excel cell. So the number would be like 123456789.

My Question is to delete the whole data by pressing one hot key. The hot key should be like a single letter("*" or "#" or "&" or etc..,). The key should not be like Ctrl + some word or ALT + some word.

For example, we have entered till 5. Now I need to delete 12345 by pressing one hot key before giving Enter Key OR complete the cell.

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
Thanks for your reply Jim. But we can use Delete Key if we completed the cell.

But before completing the cell we cannot use Delete key to delete the whole data. any suggestions?

Are you talking about deleting everything you have typed so far while editing a cell's content so that you can change what you going to type into the cell? If so, just press SHIFT+HOME (it will select all the text type up to that point) and then type your new text (which will then overwrite the selected text).

Yes Rick, you got it what i am trying to say..
But it should be in Single Key since I am trying this for a quiz for my office employees. It would be great if you assist me if there is VBA Code available for this specific thing.

Welcome to the Board!

Unfortunately, while a cell is in Edit mode everything else is on hold until you exit (Esc, Tab, Enter, etc.).
