Is there a way to record what a user selects from one of Excel's built in dialog boxes? Specifically, I want to record whether a user selects "OK" or "Cancel" and then have different things happen depending on what they select.

Excel Facts

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
Sure.

An example of one way you could do it:

Code:
Dim ans As Variant

ans = MsgBox("Click OK or Cancel", vbOKCancel)

If ans = vbOK Then
    MsgBox "You selected OK"
Else
    MsgBox "You selected Cancel"
End If

There are variations on this, of course :)

What about if I am using one of Excel's built in dialog boxes
(i.e. xlDialogWorkbookUnhide)

Craigyg,
It's pretty well the same as VP, but using the .dialogs().show instead.

Code:
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Dim result As String

result = Application.Dialogs(xlDialogWorkbookUnhide).Show
MsgBox result
End Sub

If the user presses cancel, you get a false. If they press OK, the selected sheet is unhidden and True is returned.
