Weird formula?

Morning,

I was wondering if anybody would know how to write a formula for the following?

In the following cells, I enter a number
A1 = 12
A2 = 12
A3 = 12.5
A4 = 13

In Cell A6, I have a fixed number of 48.

However, what I want to do is for every "A" cell that is below or above the number 12, I want to add or subtract that total from Cell A6

Do you mean:
=A6-SUMIF(A1:A5,"<>12",A1:A5)

or do you wish to add/subtract the difference between 12 and the values in those cells.

Do you want to add OR subtract? You cannot do both simultaneously, that wont make sense.

Basically, in cell A6, I want a starting figure of 3.

Once data is entered in cells A1:A5, if any of them are over 12, eg A1 = 13, I would want 1 taken off of cell A6

If then cell A2 = 10, I would want 2 taken off of cell A6

So in this senario:

A1 = 13
A2 = 10

A6 should = 2

Does this make sense?
