I was working in one workbook when I meant to switch to another one using Ctrl+tab, but I hit the key just above the tab my mistake -- the one the the "`" and the "~". All of the cells in that sheet turned into something that looks like text. The date cells show integers (the serial numbers), the formula cells show the formulas, not the results, even though if I click on them, the referenced cells are highlighted as normal.

What the heck did I do and how can I undo it?

Thanks

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
did you try press it again?

EDIT: also it's the keyboard shortcut for show formulas (formulas tab> formula auditing> show formulas)
it displays the formula in each cell instead of the resulting value

Ah, thank you. That fixed it. What a relief! I thought I had done something irreversible.

I thought tried typing it again, and it seemed to make it worse, but apparently not as it is working now.

Thank you very much.
