in this formula, what function is "Len" performing?

If Len(.Cells(4, i).Value) > 1 Then

Hi,

The function of LEN() is to count the length of the string that is in there.

Example:
A1 = TRUE
A2 = LEN(A1) would return 4.

So in turn, the formula you provided is asking if the cell string is longer then 1 character.
