So I have a master document in excel, which will always have the same number of records..404 to be exact..the identifier for each records is the person's SSN. Now I also have to paste multiple sheets (which will be hidden to the average user) that I want to feed data into that master document. The feeder paste document will have more than the 404 SSN's that are on that master document. I only want to information for the SSN's that are on the master document to feed, the other SSN's information can be dismissed for all I care. Another problem is on the master document I must keep a full SSN, but on some of the paste sheets, I will only be able to get the last 4 of their SSN. Any ideas on what method I should use to allow the master document to correctly update whenever I paste new data onto my feeder sheets? I cannot see a way to attach the file itself to this forum, otherwise I would just do that.

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
I don't have any experience writing code, I was hoping there would be a solution that would just use formulas.

Welcome to the Board!

If you follow the link in my sig to the Board's HTML Maker you'll be able to post a shot of your sheet. It's best to show what you have and the result you want.

The only glaring issue to me is being able to match the last 4 vs. the entire SSN because of potential duplication.

Pardon me for mentioning the obvious, but please don't post any actual SSNs.

I'm smarter than that, I would be several levels deep in something smelly if I did that. Valid point none the less. So I've tried using vlookup and it failed. I ensured all fonts, font sizes, capitalization, etc were correct, but it just leaves the formula sitting in the cell. When I write the formula into a blank cell on the tab that has the soure data it works fine. Any ideas on other options to make this work?
