What vba is used for?

I want to know what excel VBA is used for? So I am reading this article (please see the link below) and it says:

" With VBA you can create macros to automate repetitive word- and data-processing functions, and generate custom forms, graphs, and reports."

How VBA generates reports? What kind of reports? Thank you very much.

Have a look also at the Macro recorder. This may help you understand the recording and writing of macros.
AND
You posted in November that you were looking at Excel exams....I imagine that there would be a requirement for VBA knowledge in those exams as well !

I have been away from excel, so I am coming back now and started refreshing what I have learned. It is the reporting part I did not understand. I agree the others are basic. I got the idea now. Thanks.
