Hi Excel World,

I have one table with seven columns. The one column is labeled CORE FUNCTION and another FOREIGN NATIONAL. The value is either "Yes" or "No" for each column.

If both CORE FUNCTION and the FOREIGN NATIONAL reflect "Yes" in both cells of the same row I need to add how many times "Yes" "Yes" is reflected to give me a total.

I hope this is making sense as I have Googled myself to confusion.

Thanking you in advance!

Click the italics "fx" icon to the left of the formula bar to open the Functions Arguments dialog. Help is displayed for each argument.
Tell us the column numbers we are dealing with.
And where do you want the results reflected.
Are we dealing with the Range ("A:G") and which of these columns are we looking for "Yes" in ?

Do not tell me the column Header value. I need the column number like "2" or "B"

Do you want the total of all rows in the range or a separate total for each row?

Try this

<style type="text/css">p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px 'Lucida Grande'}span.s1 {color: #006107}span.s2 {color: #0057d6}</style>=SUMPRODUCT((A1:A7="yes")*(B1:B7="yes"))

in my example, CoreFunctions are all in A1:A7 and ForeignNational are all in B1:B7... Adjust the ranges to match your worksheet.

Thank you so much for your reply.

tygrrboi has answered my query with =SUMPRODUCT((A1:A7="yes")*(B1:B7="yes")) which works.

Thanks again!
