i'm taking a course in excel in sept. i have the choice of 2003, 2007, and maybe 2010.

now i currently have 2003 on my computer. i wanted to ask if there was some way to justify learning 2003 or should i definitely go w/ 2007 because its the way of the future? i should add im learning for work purposes. not any specific job / issue btw, just want to make myself as valuable on a resume as possible.

if you say 2007 is definitely better than 2003, is 2010 necessary or 2007 is still fine? not sure if 2010 is one of the choices, but if it is not sure its worth the upgrade. i have 2007 on my laptop (which i dont use) so not too concerned about the cost there, but with 2010 there's a very real cost involved.

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
If you choose to learn Excel 2003 you will, undoubtedly, eventually have to migrate to Excel 2007. That is an extremely painful process in terms of relearning the user interface ... I recommend learning something newer than Excel 2003, just for your own future sanity.

2007 & 2010 are very different to 2003, so picking 2003 is useful only if you specifically need it, otherwise its almost like undertaking Windows 98 course :)

2010 adds extra functions to 2007 although the difference is not that big I definitely recon 2010 - with this one, you will be able to use 2007 fine (2003 too to some extent) and you might come across some new features you might find very useful.
