I routinely work with excell and have a fairly good working knowlege. Someone sent me a file that was very large (3mg). when I opened it, I was shocked to find little data within. The file consists of 20 tabs with each tab contining data that completes no more that 10 percent of the space of one page. There are no formulas or anything else that would add to it's size.

I decided to lock in the print size to one page on each tab and although the size dropped down from 3mg to 2.7, it remains incredible large for such little data.

I remember seeing this before however I do not recall what the problem was. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, confused

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
Avoid the following to lessen File Size:
Formats that extend over entire Columns, (65536 rows) or entire Rows, (256 columns).
Graphics, even if they are hidden.
Formulae that reference entire rows or columns.
Named ranges that are referenced from worksheets other than their own.
Pivot tables that have had data changed, added to, and refreshed time and again.

Are there Rows and Columns Hidden - it's possible there's a lot of data in here. Are there any hidden images? Has someone played a prank on you and changed the text colour to match that of the background making it invisible but still taking space?

Just a few "out there" possibilities - other than that I don't know.
