Why Won't My Spreadsheet Work When Unzipped?

I've looked through your past posts be don't seem to be able to find what I'm after. A work mate asked me to e-mail a file to him using winzip. The file is very big with some 30+ worksheets and many calculations and rows of data. It also has quite a few userforms in built as well.

Once the file was sent my colleuge found that when the file was unzipped the file would run very slowly. If he opened the file directly from within winzip it would run at what we call the normal speed. To give you an example, to open a userform normally takes a couple of seconds. the extracted zip file 10-15 mins, yet if it was accesed directly in the zip file only a couple of seconds.

I've also noticed that when selecting sheet3 this takes along time to open even though it only has 30 rows of data. Also if scrolling on this sheet it takes about a minute to move down the page.

Almost forgot we are using identical laptops with the same speed processors and memory.

Can anyone help with this unusual problem?
