Word to Excel VBA??

I have a word file with an embeded form and very complex code (to me anyway) that manipulates data from an external program in and out of Excel (why the author didn't code it in Excel to begin with is beyond me...). I use about 5% of the code (trick is figuring out which 5%) that I'd like to port ocver to Excel and then simpilfy (the original allows the user to select settings that my Excel spreadsheet version will hard code in).

Anyone have experience porting Word VBA over to Excel? Curious how simple/hard I can expect this to be...
