I have a workbook which I have used for tracking money for months.

Now, all the sudden, when I put a dollar value in a cell or create a new worksheet and put dollar values in cells it defaults to dates.

What did I change to make this happen?

Thanks.

Excel Can Read to You
Customize Quick Access Toolbar. From All Commands, add Speak Cells or Speak Cells on Enter to QAT. Select cells. Press Speak Cells.
Does this happen when you format the value as dollars?

No idea why you're experiencing these symptoms. Post an example of the spreadsheet if you still have issues.

On the link you provided from Microsoft, the second answer, method 2 worked for me (Click cell styles, then normal item at top left, then right click normal and hit modify, then click format button, then change number to general).
Thanks, much frustration now gone!
Would be nice to know WHY it changed.
