Can anyone help?

I'm a sys admin on an old NT 4.0 network running Office 97. One of our users is having a problem in that everytime he opens a specific workbook, it closes unexpectedly.

This sometimes happens with shared workbooks, and the fix is normally to unshare the workbook, save it and then share it again to clear any lock files. This hasn't worked at all in this case.

All other users can open and use this file (even those with exactly the same permissions), but it keeps kicking him out.

If he logs onto another PC on the same network he gets the same problem. I have given him a new profile, and reset the reg key out of sheer desperation.

Has anybody got any ideas at all!?

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Are there any macros attached to the workbook?

Different versions of Excel? Workbook could be corrupt.
Have you opened Excel in safemode then tried opening the workbook?
Can the user open the workbook when it is *not* shared?
No error messages???
Do you open the workbook directly or open Excel then the workbook?

what reg key did you reset?
