Is there a way that if there are multiple results to a function to use goal seek and have it return the lowest number out of all of the possible answers? Or if you have any other input on other options could you please let me know.

It is a multiple step financial function.

I have never used solver before. How do I get to it?

It's an add-in. See the Excel Help topics for "About Solver" and "Define and solve a problem by using Solver".

So I used solver but I get an error message saying error in model. I've tried entering it the same way as i would in goal seek and it still gives me this error even though goal seek works fine. Is there something I can't do or need to do in the solver?

Solver is industrial strength. I suggested that your read all of the available Excel Help topics, examine the examples provided by Microsoft (see Solvsamp.xls), and perhaps visit the website of the firm that created it, and view their tutorial (http://www.solver.com/tutorial.htm).

Does the solver work if there are IF statements in the formula?
