Hi,

I want to write a formula in excel - I don't want it to calculate an answer it will be there for reference only so when I print a page I want to clearly see the formula.

An example of a formula I want to enter is - Sum all the units so use a sigma sign with units written directly under the sigma sign and n written directly above. Does anyone know if this is possible in excel?

Thanks
Kitty

Excel Facts

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
try to put ' (single quote) before the formula

Hi Kitty,

What you could do is put a ' before the Formula, this will show you the actual Formula string and NOT the resultant value.

Hope this Helps.
All the Best.

This doesn't answer what I need to do - Sigma will never show as it is not used in the cell when you are summing things even if you put ' .

This will work if you are just using a normal excel formula.

any other suggestions?

Thanks so much - it is a shame you cannot have this toolbar ability in excel too. Oh well.

Thanks
