I am trying to use XIRR, and it won't recognize the function! I have both the Analysis ToolPak and the Analysis ToolPak VBA add-ins checked under tools.

What else could be causing Excel not to recognize the function?

I tried using it as "Insert, Formula" but that did not work, either!

Weird.

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
Please forgive me if sounds unkind, but stranger things have happened....

You are typing the equals sign first, right? =XIRR(.....)

What happens when you use the funtion. Do you get a #NAME error or what?

Nothing happens - it's as if it isn't installed as a function. =XIRR(... and nothing happens at all!

That is odd. However, if it weren't recognized, you would at very least get #NAME?

There is a function that I use that also doesn't prompt me (sorry, I can't remember which it is right now) but after completing the syntax correctly, it resolves correctly.

Try typing out the complete formula, satisfying all of XIRR's arguments, and see if that works.
