Hello all!

First time poster long time lurker…

So I have a question which I hope you can help me with.

I’m using XLOOKUP to use for searching a set of reference numbers and their corresponding row information if needed (it’s designed to just be a tool if needed)

While I can get the XLOOKUP function to work itself, one issue I am finding is that it seems to want to search even where the cell is blank. In this case this is an issue as some records have yet to have a reference given but have other information populated and means the lookup row is showing the first rows data where there isn’t a reference.

I would like to avoid this and have it have all cells in the lookup blank until I put a reference in.

I’ve tried using a if and beating the XLOOKUP to no avail.

Any help would be hugely appreciated !

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
Welcome to the Board!

Can you post a sample of your data so we can see what it looks like, along with your XLOOKUP formula?

MrExcel has a tool called “XL2BB” that lets you post samples of your data that will allow us to copy/paste it to our Excel spreadsheets, so we can work with the same copy of data that you are. Instructions on using this tool can be found here: XL2BB Add-in

Note that there is also a "Test Here” forum on this board. This is a place where you can test using this tool (or any other posting techniques that you want to test) before trying to use those tools in your actual posts.
