Hi all.

I have a very large workbook (41.2mb) and have been researching ways to speed-up opening / closing / saving of the document. I have stumbled across using the XLSB format, which I didn't even know existed until now. I know the format won't increase speed when actually working in the file, but should reduce file size and improve opening / closing / saving times.

I am hesitant to just go and convert my file to the format, as it has been a lot of work for me to achieve the point it is at. I am wondering is there any difference on the 'front-end', or will the spreadsheet work and appear in exactly the same way?

Also, can you freely move back and forth between XLSX and XLSB formats, without any issues etc.

Thanks in advance,

Olly.

Save Often
If you start asking yourself if now is a good time to save your Excel workbook, the answer is Yes
It should work the same.

Make a COPY of your workbook, then save it as .XLSB . Try that with your project as a test.
I've used .XLSB routinely on any number of my projects.

Hi, thanks.

Yes, I just went to try that and a message came up saying that there were features that I am using that wouldn’t be supported, so I am a bit apprehensive. Do you know what these missing features would likely be? I don’t use any macros / VBA in there, but do use things like conditional formatting etc.
