Hi,

I have the following value in cell C1:

I am trying to use vlookup to match this value but although the value is the same , the result is #n/a. I realize that the first three zero in this value is not appearing in the formula bar although it appears just fine in cell C1. This is causing the vlookup to result in #n/a.

The value from another file is exactly same as the value in C1 and not as shown in the formula bar. May I know how do I fix this so that the vlookup with result in a match ? Appreciate all the help.

Excel Facts

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Was it formatted with custom format: "000"0 ?
Try to format as "General" or number.

Also, if you wish it to be text with 10 zero format, try in other cell, D1:
=TEXT(C1,"0000000000")
Then copy/paste value back to C1

.. or just format in your VLOOKUP
=VLOOKUP(TEXT(C1,"0000000000"), .....
