Is it within rules to refer to my post that hasn't had any replies other than my own?
 
You can bump your thread (no more than once a day) to bring it back up to the top of the thread list. Just reply "bump" to it.
 
I did that without the quotes. Was that correct?

Whilst simply "bumping" like that about once per day is acceptable, if you need to do that it usually means your question is not clear enough (or is impossible, but that is rare) so trying to add some more clarity or sample data and expected results is more likely to elicit a useful response.
