    I'm running out of things to suggest. Can you try it on a different computer to see if there's a difference?

    Good idea....

    Well, it works fine. But it is running on a non Easy-XL version of Excel 2007.

    Another symptom I have noticed on my main (original) machine.

    If I create the index sheet, then insert a column so the index is then in column B,
    then save, close and reopen, the index links work fine. And in the previously empty
    column A is a list of the link headings from column B but in plain text. Cell A1 contains the word Index, whereas B1 contains the word Sheet with a comment that pops up containing creation time, date, etc.

    Also the "Comments" cell from column B is blank in column A.

    Hard to tell if it's an Easy-XL quirk, Excel quirk or a combination.

    BTW thanks again for your suggestions!

    A couple more thoughts.

    Have you tried indexing a different workbook? For example you could index the sample workbook (Easy-XL -> Help -> Open Sample Workbook), save it to disk and then see what happens.

    Can you install a version of Easy-XL on the other machine temporarily and see what happens when you produce an index sheet and then save it?

    Could you send me a copy of the problematic workbook? My email = support at easy-xl.com

    OK I tried this on a couple of workbooks with no problem at all.

    I'll have to do this tomorrow

    I received the workbook, opened it and created a sheet index, saved it and then reloaded it. The hyperlinks disappeared.

    Upon further investigation I found the following piece of code in the ThisWorkbook component of the workbook's VBA project:

    Code:

    Private Sub Workbook_Open()
    Dim ws As Worksheet
    Dim i As Integer
        Worksheets("Index").Range("A:A").ClearContents
        For Each ws In ThisWorkbook.Worksheets
            i = i + 1
            Worksheets("Index").Range("A" & i) = ws.Name
        Next ws
    End Sub
    This code is overwriting the hyperlinks.
