Default Index page links in XL2007

    Greetings

I have a workbook in which I have created an Index page using Easy-XL.

However, when I open the workbook in Excel 2007 the Index links do not work.
When I open in XL2010 beta they do!

I recalled a recent podcast along similar lines to do with security settings, so I
looked at those in 2007 but there are no disallow options selected, only the "ask first"
    options.

Anyone have ideas as to why this might be happening?

The linked cells use the HYPERLINK function. For example:

    =HYPERLINK("[aData.xls]'Invoices2011'!A1","Invoices2011")

    Some things to check:

Is the workbook on a mapped or network drive?

Is this workbook being published to Sharepoint?

Does the hyperlink point to a hidden worksheet?

Let me know and I'll do some further research.

Hi and thanks for the quick reply.

The workbook is a local file on my machine, not a network or sharepoint file.

The workbook has no hidden worksheet.

The index page created works ok in XL2010 beta (as I mentioned).
In XL2007 it looks like a list of hyperlinks (ie Blue and underlined text)
but they are not hyperlinks, just with the hyperlink style.

    Tis indeed puzzling.

    Cheers

    Aaaaarrgghh!

Now Excel 2010 is displaying the same symptoms.

I have to delete the Index sheet and remake it with easy-XL in order for the links to
    work.

This is starting to sound like an Excel quirk, not Easy-XL.

I guess the mystery is why and when do the Hyperlinks get changed to text formatted like a hyperlink (underlined and blue).

Are you moving the workbook around after you create the sheet index?

Can you confirm that after you create the Sheet Index with Easy-XL that the hyperlinks are created as one would expect?

Is it possible that your Windows permissions are different when you run Excel 2010?

What happens in 2007 and now in 2010 is:

    I have a workbook with 16 sheets.
I use Easy-XL to create an Index sheet.
After it's created the Index sheet has 16 hyperlinks which all work correctly.
I save the sheet. ( I tried saving as xls and xlsx)
I close the sheet and reopen it.
The Index sheet now has Non working links.

I don't move the worksheet around. (ie the path to the file stays the same.)

What are some of the settings I should check that may affect this?

Further investigation shows that using the HYPERLINK command on the other sheets
works fine, even after the workbook is saved then reloaded.

    Curiouser and curiouser!

Further investigation shows that after saving, closing and reloading,
the Index page is missing the "Comments" heading in Column A.

When Easy_XL created the Index page, 7 cells below the list of Hyperlinks is
the heading "Comments". This is not there after saving, closing, reloading.

Was the workbook emailed or copied from a non-trusted location initially?

Have you checked your hyperlink base property for the workbook?

By default, Easy-XL leaves this blank so the hyperlinks are all relative to the current workbook. I wonder if this has been changed.

    To check go to:

Excel (File) -> Prepare -> Properties

Click the down arrow to the right of "Document Properties" and select Advanced Properties...

Select the Settings tab and look at the Hyperlink base property.

The workbook was made by me locally, so no emailling or copying.

The hyperlink base property is as you say it should be....blank.

I really appreciate your persitent effort to help me. Thanks.
