Fraction formatting

I formatted A1 as Fraction. The I entered A1= 5 3/10 in that form. Excel changed it to A1= 5 2/7
I entered B1=5.3, then when I type this formula in C1=B1-A1, I got 0 (but the 0 was placed in the middle of the cell!!)

My question why excel changed 3/10 to 2/7? and why sub B1-A1 lead to 0 in the middle of the cell. Thank you.

Do you have it formatted "Up to 2 digits"? If it's only formatted as one digit it will change 3/10 to 2/7.

The displayed value will change, but not the underlying value.
