So we have a large data set with information from of about 150 people (age, sex, nationality, etc.) We want to count how may people are female AND from the United States. There is a column in the sheet with "Male" or "Female" and another column with the name of the country. How can we create a formula that counts how many of these people are Female and from the United States?

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
Assuming gender is in column A and country is in column B, place this formula in any desired cell:
=COUNTIFS(A2:A20,"Female",B2:B20,"US")
Change the ranges to suit your needs.
