Sounds like you have variable length rows and want to get the right-most populated column value...

Can you use =lookup(rept("z",255),a1:f1) or =lookup("Ω",a1:f1) ? Use ALT+234 to enter Ω

Why? Did you consider at all why I did not forward that what you propose myself? Try to delete E1. Does that formula still give the last value?
