Hi,

After the 8:th charachter I would like to either change the color to white or just not show them. Is this possible?

Example:

12345678#abc

The charachters after # is optional code for input to a formula, and are also the ones I want to hide.

Rather not use vba for this but it seems like it's the only solution right now.

Excel Facts

Excel Joke
Why can't spreadsheets drive cars? They crash too often!
it's populated like this:
23044563#45

The first set of numbers always have the 8 digit length.
It can be up to 4 numbers after #.
After the first set of 8 numbers everything else should be "invisible" but still readable by a formula.

So either with the same color as the background (vba is the only way I can think of for accomplishing this), or #+numbers not shown via a custom format if possible

Unless there are other possibilities?

so a person types "23044563#45" into a cell, but you only want to show the "23044563"

is this in a specific cell or column?
