I have a conditional formatting question that I’m struggling with. I’m creating an Excel doc that has the month going across one row (A1:AB1), I need to enter data below the dates for the hours of work I put in on each program. I need the week highlighted to make it easier to locate in the sheet, the catch being my work week runs Thursday to Wednesday. For example, today is 2/23, I need the columns V1:AB1 to highlight automatically so I can easily identify them and add my data in the corresponding cells.

I know this is possible but for some reason I’m really struggling with this formula. I’m working with Excel 2010.

insert this formula

pick the format you want (Fill --> yellow, for example)

Question:
Should the week always start on a Thursday and end on Wednesday or start on the first day of the month?
If the latter you will have to adjust the second parameter of the WEEKNUM function.
By chance March 1, 2018 is also a Thursday, but for other months it will be necessary to check;

It will always start on a Thursday, even if payroll falls within that week.
