I have a workbook that has a link with an error - the link shouldn't be there at all so I've tried everything I can think of to locate the defunct link or where it might be referenced - have I missed anything or can you think of anything else I might try so I can get rid of it permanently?

1. Break links option - does not remove link
2. Conditional formatting - all checked no references to external files
3. Named ranges - all deleted that refer to another workbook
4. Tried to list all links and locations using the following method but no links were found:

It's driving me crazy!

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
search through find and replace using
[*] to see what references there are on the sheet

On each sheet in the workbook try Ctrl G > Special > Objects
If that doesn't find the culprit select data Validation rather than objects

Neither of those turned anything up. Though I have narrowed it down to a specific column by gradually deleting formatting / Data.
