why does this not work.

Code:
ActiveSheet.PageSetup.Orientation = Not ActiveSheet.PageSetup.Orientation

it works for columns
Range("AA:AE").EntireColumn.Hidden = Not (Range("AA:AE").EntireColumn.Hidden)

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
Re: TOGGLEl page orientation VBA

That is because "Range("AA:AE").EntireColumn.Hidden" returns Boolean values of TRUE or FALSE.
Not TRUE equals FALSE, and Not FALSE equals TRUE.

But the possible values of "
ActiveSheet.PageSetup.Orientation" are "xlPortrait" and "xlLandscape".
Those are NOT boolean values. Not "xlPotrait" does not equate to "xlLandscape", or vice versa.

You could do it this way then...

ActiveSheet.PageSetup.Orientation = 3 - ActiveSheet.PageSetup.Orientation

where the 3 is the sum of xlPortrait and xlLandscape.
