Code:
(COUNTIF($A$2:$A2,$A2)=1)+0

So running this formula to de-dup 200K lines of data causes excel to crash (90% of the time).
Any suggestions to optimize it are welcome.

Excel Facts

Copy a format multiple times
Select a formatted range. Double-click the Format Painter (left side of Home tab). You can paste formatting multiple times. Esc to stop
Try
Code:
=(MATCH(A2,$A$2:A2,0)=ROW(A1))*1

Excel may be holding a rogue value somewhere
- try deleting all rows below your actual data
(delete the actual rows, not the values)
- do same for columns

If that fails
- try a new workbook with only the true range pasted over
- the current workbook may have a corruption
