Working with dates & VBA

I've got data in two columns, the first with dates, the second with names. What I'd like to do is have a macro that goes through the data and delete certain dates (all weekends and some other specific dates), and in the case where a date - that's not a weekend or the other dates to delete - is missing, it inserts a row with that date in one column and a blank in the other. The start and end dates will change. I'm not too familiar working with dates in vba.
