Is it possible to import a single cell from one Excel file to another, such that each time I open a specific .xlsx file, it will import the value from the most recently saved version of a different file (either opened or unopened)?

Any guidance here is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sam

You can just have a formula in your main workbook that references the other workbook.

When you open the main workbook, you'll get an alert asking if you want to update links -- click "update" and you'll receive up-to-date values.

You can also change the setup so that you don't receive the alert and the links just update automatically.

To achieve that, follow:

Data --> Edit Links --> Startup Prompt --> Don't display the alert and update links
