Greetings,

I want to thank those who nudge me with great information each time I post. I'm piecing together and learning Excel and Access during my spare time and loving it.

I'm trying to come up with a Dashboard in Excel and I've already created a little spreadsheet and what I do is run a report from software we use at work, export it into excel and then use that.

Is there a way that I can just keep using 1 file name and when I export the file I keep that name and just overwrite the existing file and create a Refresh button in my dashboard and it update? Is that a thing? I was curious if that worked.

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
it wouldnt be so much as a "Refresh" button, it would be more of a "Fetch" button... so lets say you are "dumping" all the data from a workbook into a certain tab in your dashboard workbook. Then I figure you are pulling the data you need from that tab to populate your dashboard areas.

You would need to create a simple macro to remove the current existing data (or add to it depending on if you want growing data or only new data) in your data tab in your dashboard workbook, then retrieve or fetch the new data from the exported file which you overwrote from your other software when you exported, then all of your dashboard areas would be refreshed.

I know its a lot but hopefully that made sense.
